Bridging the Digital Divide — Securing the Future
Our Mission
Secure Roots bridges the digital divide by equipping underserved community members — particularly youth and seniors — with the technology skills, cybersecurity awareness, and AI literacy needed to thrive in the modern digital economy.
Based in LA County's Second Supervisorial District — Compton, Inglewood, Willowbrook, Watts, South LA, Baldwin Hills, Leimert Park, and surrounding communities — we bring real-world cybersecurity expertise directly to the people who need it most.
Our Programs Get InvolvedThe Digital Divide Is Real — And It's in Our Backyard
In our community, the digital divide isn't an abstract concept. It's a daily reality that limits opportunity, deepens inequality, and leaves our most vulnerable neighbors behind.
The Numbers
- 416,000+ households in LA County lack internet access
- 9.7% of households have no internet subscription
- 4.6% of households have no computer at all
- Disproportionate impact on low-income, Black, and Latino communities
Youth without digital skills face limited career options. Seniors face isolation and vulnerability to online scams. But this is a solvable problem — and we're solving it.
